What we liked

- Tritan plastic body picks up scratches over time
Cold brew from a coffee shop costs more per cup than this entire pitcher, and the Takeya makes it embarrassingly easy to stop paying it. Coarse grounds in the mesh filter, cold water to the fill line, lid on, fridge overnight. Morning you pours smooth, low-acid concentrate over ice.
The airtight seal is the underrated feature: the pitcher can lie flat on a crowded fridge shelf or stand in the door, and it won’t leak or pick up fridge smell. Everything goes in the dishwasher, so cleanup is a non-event.
Two honest caveats: use coarse grounds only, because fines sneak through the mesh and settle into a silty last cup; and the Tritan body, while genuinely shatterproof, will show scuffs and scratches after a year of daily use. Neither stops it from being the default cold brew recommendation — it’s the one we still reach for.
