What we didn't

- No camera or HDMI passthrough, so it can't truly sync to what's on screen
Light bars are the cleaner sibling of the LED strip: no adhesive wrestling, no peeling corners, just two bars you stand on the media console or screw to the back of the TV. Each bar is segmented RGBIC, so gradients roll up them instead of sitting on a single flat color.
Unlike Govee’s budget strips, these run WiFi, which means Alexa and Google voice control work without any extra hardware. The Govee Home app handles scenes, timers, and music sync, and the mic-based sync is quick enough to feel reactive during movies and games.
The trade-off is value-per-square-foot: a strip kit covers more surface for less money, so you’re paying for the form factor and convenience. And because there’s no camera watching your screen, the colors can’t mirror the picture itself — these set a mood around the TV rather than extending the image off it.
