This is the kit that closes the gap between ‘strip behind the TV’ and Philips Ambilight. A small camera mounted on the bezel watches your screen, samples the edge colors, and drives an RGBIC strip around the back to match — explosions spill orange off the wall, ocean scenes wash blue. Because it watches the picture instead of intercepting the signal, it works with Netflix, your PS5, your antenna, anything.
Setup is the calibration dance: stick markers on the screen corners, point the camera, let the app map it. The 3 Lite adds fish-eye correction, which fixes the edge-warping that made older camera kits sample the wrong pixels, and the color matching is impressively faithful once dialed in.
Two honest complaints. The camera sitting on top of your TV looks exactly like what it is — a gadget — and there’s no hiding it. And on rapid-fire editing or strobe-heavy scenes the lights trail the picture by a perceptible beat. If either of those grates, Govee’s HDMI sync boxes cost more but dodge both.
