The InnoGear boom arm is the default answer to “how do I get my mic off the desk for cheap.” It’s a classic scissor arm: a steel C-clamp bites the edge of your desk, two spring-loaded sections unfold to about 30 inches of reach, and the whole thing swings 360 degrees so the mic goes exactly where your mouth is — then folds out of frame when you’re done.
The load rating is the headline: 3.3 pounds, which covers the mics people actually buy. A Blue Yeti in its shock mount? Fine. An SM7B, which kills truly cheap arms? It holds. Setup is a five-minute job with no tools, and the standard 5/8-inch thread (3/8-inch adapter in the box) mates with every clip and shock mount you’re likely to own.
Now the honest part. The exposed springs creak when the arm moves — reposition mid-recording and your mic will hear it. And with a heavy mic parked at full extension, the joints relax over months and the arm starts to sag; a quarter-turn on the tension bolts fixes it, but you’ll be doing that forever. If you adjust your mic constantly on camera, save up for a silent premium arm. If you set it once and leave it, this is all the arm you need for $25.
